HEALTH COMPLICATIONS AND ASSOCIATIONS

A diagnosis of PCOS is associated with many other health complications, but not all patients will develop every complication. Health associations means that the risk of these conditions is increased compared to patients without PCOS, but the risks are different for each person and only some patients will develop them. Engaging in regular clinical care with specialists in PCOS can significantly reduce the risk of future health complications. Some common health associations include:
  • Type 2 diabetes mellitus
  • Obesity
  • Cardiovascular disease
  • Metabolic dysfunction-Associated Fatty Liver Disease
  • Mood disorders including anxiety and depression
  • Difficulties conceiving
